Teachers: Inspiring and shaping the future No mattter where in the world they are, teachers are those people who take on the challenging and sometimes thankless task of educating the young to become the future leaders and active citizens in their communities.
That challenge is doubly difficult in Guatemala due to the lack of funding for classroom teaching materials and student learning supplies.

Currently, schools in Guatemala are budgeted to receive $8.42 per student per year for classroom teaching materials and student supplies. That amount is supposed to cover the costs of desks, textbooks, pencils, notebooks, i.e., all classroom related expenses that are not teacher salaries. This amount is hardly enough for teachers to buy chalk and whiteboard markers, much less furnish their classrooms with any type of adequate learning materials.
For that reason, we are looking for teachers in the U.S. who are willing to personally support the efforts of a colleague teacher in Guatemala by funding some of the costs of teaching materials and student supplies.

| While we would gladly accept any donation to this program, we are suggesting that U.S. teachers wishing to partner with a teacher in Guatemala commit to providing a donation that would support a classroom of 24 or more students ($8.42 times 24, or an annual contribution of at least $202.08.)
|
Your tax-deductible contribution can be made by sending a check made payable to the Avivara Teacher Fund to our Seattle office at 7202 33rd NW, Seattle, WA 98117.
Or you could make a one time annual online donation (below), or by setting up a monthly payment either online or through your bank.
For our partner teachers, we will help you communicate with your partner teacher in Guatemala, and if you were to visit Guatemala, we would help arrange a meeting between the two of you.
If you have any questions about this program, you may Contact Us using the link found at the top of any page on our website.
